Job Summary

The Senior Security Engineer will design, implement, and maintain security controls across Paymera’s infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, and payment systems.

This role focuses on embedding security into day-to-day engineering practices, proactively reducing risks, and strengthening Paymera’s overall security posture. You will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and development teams to ensure security-by-design across all products and services.

Key Responsibilities
 

Security Architecture & Engineering

• Design and maintain secure architectures for APIs, payment flows, and fintech platforms
• Define and enforce security standards, baselines, and best practices
• Lead secure design and architecture reviews
• Implement encryption, key management, and secure secrets handling
• Conduct threat modeling during early development stages

• Application & API Security
  • Secure REST APIs, microservices, and backend services
  • Perform application security assessments and code reviews
  • Ensure protection against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
  • Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps practices)
• Infrastructure, Cloud & Platform Security
  • Secure Linux servers, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud environments
  • Implement firewalls, WAFs, segmentation, and private networking
  • Harden systems and runtime environments
  • Manage certificates, TLS, and encryption standards
• Risk, Compliance & GovernanceMonitoring & Incident Response
  • Support PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain risk registers
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for audits
  • Define security policies, procedures, and incident response plans
  • Manage SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, and endpoint monitoring tools
  • Improve detection and alerting capabilities
  • Lead investigations and responses to security incident
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and remediation
• Leadership & Culture
  • Act as the security subject-matter expert across Paymera
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide teams on best practices
  • Promote a strong security-first culture across the organization
