Job Purpose
The Quality and Safety Management Systems (QSMS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the airport’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with aviation regulatory requirements, international standards, and best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
Develop, implement, and maintain the airport’s Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001, ICAO, and national aviation authority requirements.
Conduct internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and track closure of findings.
Ensure document control, procedures, and records are properly maintained.
Monitor quality performance indicators and report trends to senior management.
Safety Management
Oversee the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with ICAO Annex 19 and local aviation regulations.
Identify, assess, and mitigate safety hazards and operational risks.
Lead safety risk assessments for new projects, changes, or procedures.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and safety occurrences; ensure timely reporting and root cause analysis.
Promote a positive safety culture across all airport stakeholders.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Act as the primary point of contact with aviation authorities and regulators for quality and safety matters.
Ensure airport operations comply with national and international aviation safety standards.
Prepare the airport for regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications.
Training & Awareness
Develop and deliver quality and safety training programs for airport staff and contractors.
Ensure staff awareness of safety policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
Support competency assessments related to safety-critical roles.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare safety and quality performance reports for senior management.
Analyze data, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Recommend enhancements to systems, procedures, and operational practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Safety Management, Quality Management, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ICAO SMS, NEBOSH, or equivalent are preferred.
Strong knowledge of ICAO standards, aviation regulations, and airport operations.
