Job Purpose

The Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of passenger boarding bridges to facilitate secure boarding and disembarkation of passengers, while ensuring strict compliance with airport safety, security, and airside operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Duties

• Operate passenger boarding bridges to dock and undock aircraft safely and precisely.

• Align and position the boarding bridge in accordance with aircraft type and airline procedures.

• Perform pre-operation and post-operation safety checks on the boarding bridge.

• Ensure correct bridge configuration, height, and seals to maintain passenger safety.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all airside safety procedures, airport regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Maintain continuous communication with flight crew, ramp teams, and terminal staff during bridge operations.

• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions are identified.

• Report equipment defects, incidents, and safety hazards promptly.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with apron control, ramp services, and terminal operations to ensure on-time aircraft turnaround.

• Support efficient passenger boarding and disembarkation.

• Respond effectively to operational changes such as delays, aircraft changes, or emergencies.

Equipment & Housekeeping

• Ensure boarding bridge equipment is clean, serviceable, and properly secured when not in use.

• Assist with basic troubleshooting and coordinate maintenance support when required.
