About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and principled IT Compliance Officer to support the implementation and oversight of Paymera’s risk and compliance framework. This key role ensures that our operations adhere to Syrian regulatory requirements, internal policies, and international compliance standards — helping protect our reputation, operations, and our mission to serve the Syrian financial ecosystem responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining Information Technology (IT) an Information Systems (IS) governance frameworks, compliance policies, and procedures.
- Support internal control activities to promote transparency and compliance.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Syrian laws, regulations, and directives from the Central Bank of Syria.
- Monitor alignment with IT international standards (e.g., AML/CFT, PCI-DSS, data protection).
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of compliance policies and controls.
Risk & Monitoring
- Participate in identifying and assessing IT compliance risks across operations.
- Help maintain a risk register and track mitigation actions.
- Support IT compliance checks for new products, partnerships, or system updates.
Audits & Investigations
- Assist in preparing for internal and external IT audits.
- Support investigations or compliance reviews as required by regulatory bodies or internal protocols.
- Coordinate with external auditors and respond to regulatory inquiries.
Communication
- Serve as a point of contact for basic IT compliance guidance across departments.
Reporting
- Compile compliance reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Escalate significant risks or breaches to the Compliance Manager or senior leadership.
