We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance backend systems for a digital payments and financial services platform.

The role focuses on developing NestJS-based microservices, building event-driven architectures using Kafka, and ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability in a high-throughput environment. You will play a key role in architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and shaping backend best practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Design, develop, and maintain NestJS microservices with a strong focus on scalability and fault tolerance.

• Build event-driven systems using Kafka for asynchronous communication, data streaming, and system decoupling.

• Design clean and maintainable API contracts (REST / gRPC) and internal service-to-service communication.

• Implement transactional workflows for financial operations such as:

  • Wallet balance updates

  • Transfers and settlements

  • Payment processing

• Ensure data consistency using patterns such as:

  • Saga

  • Idempotency

  • Exactly-once / at-least-once processing

• Integrate with external systems such as payment gateways, KYC providers, and third-party services.

• Apply security best practices (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, encryption).

• Collaborate with DevOps on containerization, deployment, and monitoring (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).

• Optimize system performance, handle high traffic, and troubleshoot production issues.

• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following best engineering practices.

• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical decision-making.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and conduct code reviews.
