The purpose of the Airfield Safety Supervisor is to lead and oversee the airfield safety function at the airport, ensuring that aircraft, vehicle and personnel movements in the aerodrome environment are conducted safely, in compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and that potential hazards are proactively identified and mitigated to protect life, property and operational continuity

• Supervise and conduct regular inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, safety areas and adjacent infrastructure to identify hazards (e.g., Foreign Object Debris (FOD), pavement defects, lighting failures) and initiate corrective actions.
• Monitor and enforce airside driving, vehicle and pedestrian access procedures, vehicle permits, speed limits and airfield access zones to maintain safe movement of vehicles and personnel.
• Coordinate and oversee construction, maintenance or third-party works on the airfield to ensure safe method statements, works permits, and no interference with aircraft operations.
• Manage the airfield safety incident/near-miss investigation process: gather facts, analyse causes, document findings, recommend corrective actions and ensure implementation and follow-up.
• Develop, implement and monitor airfield safety programmes such as FOD prevention, airside driving training, wildlife hazard management, airport surface movement safety, and airside contractor safety.
• Participate in or lead emergency response activities on the airfield (e.g., aircraft incident, fuel spill, fire, foreign object damage event), coordinating with airside operations, fire/rescue, ramp services and air-traffic or control tower as required.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, hazard logs, corrective action tracking, safety performance indicators, audit results and produce reports for senior management.
• Liaise with airport operations, air-traffic control, ground-handling, contractors, external regulators and relevant stakeholders to ensure a shared safety-first culture and compliance with aviation/airport regulations and standards.
• Provide leadership, training, coaching and performance oversight for the airfield safety team (including safety officers, inspectors and support staff), ensuring staff competence, shift coverage and continuous improvement.
• Review and update airfield safety policies, procedures, SOPs and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., 14 CFR Part 139, ICAO Annex 14, local aviation authority rules) and ensure audit readiness.
